Salomé Coronel (Quito, Ecuador, 1996) currently lives and works in Paris. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in Fashion Design, with an emphasis on Fashion Product, from Parsons The New School for Design, New York, United States (2014–2018).
Her artistic practice explores the reconstruction of memory as a space where the personal and the collective converge. Since leaving Ecuador more than a decade ago, she has come to understand memory as a form of resistance and preservation—a way of remaining connected to her origins while living far from them.
Questions of identity—who she is, where she comes from, and how these conditions shape her work—are central to her practice. As a Latin American artist living outside her home country, she conceives of memory as something unstable and constantly evolving, shifting from the representation of familiar moments toward more ambiguous and gray territories of recollection.
A self-taught visual artist, Coronel has developed her artistic practice through personal exploration and experimentation with painting, photography, and mixed media. Throughout her trajectory, her work has evolved by merging this autonomous process with her training in fashion design, integrating aesthetic sensitivity, attention to detail, and a material-driven approach into her projects.
